Alfie Devine Recalled by Tottenham Hotspur

We can confirm that midfielder, Alfie Devine, has been recalled by his parent club, Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old creative midfielder joined the Valiants on loan in late August 2023 and quickly became a fan favourite throughout the Vale faithful, scoring three goals and creating three assists across all competitions.

Throughout his time with the club, Alfie would go on to cement himself in Port Vale folklore when he scored the winning goal against Mansfield Town to send the Valiants through to the Carabao Cup Quarter Final for the first time in the club’s history.

Speaking of Alfie Devine’s time with the club, Port Vale FC Manager, Andy Crosby, said:

“I want to begin by thanking both Tottenham Hotspur for their trust with one of their highly-rated, up-and-coming talents and to Alfie for his efforts and commitment to Port Vale throughout his time with the club.

“When Alfie joined us on loan in the summer, one of the key selling points of the club was the assurance that he would be coming in and gaining valuable Football League experience in what would be his first professional loan away from Tottenham.

“We can safely say that he has gained everything that was promised and more and he leaves the club a far more experienced player than when he came. The growth that we have seen in Alfie both on and off the pitch speaks volumes of the person behind the footballer. He has an undying will to become the very best version of himself and we provided him with the best possible platform to do so.

“With his passion and drive partnered with his natural ability, he has all of the tools at his disposal to go on and really make a name for himself in the professional game and everybody that he has met and worked with here at Port Vale will be willing him on to do so.

“I would like to wish Alfie the absolute best of luck in his future career and beyond.”

Port Vale FC’s Director of Football, David Flitcroft, added:

“Firstly, I would like to personally thank Tottenham Hotspur and their Loans Manager, Andy Scoulding, for their trust with the development of one of their elite young talents in Alfie and in return, they will be receiving an even better, more well-rounded and experienced player and person as a result. Their constant, open and transparent dialogue has played a large part in why Alfie’s loan has been such a success, and we thank them for that.

“Alfie has been a leading example both on and off the pitch of everything that we look for when bringing in a loan player to Vale Park. His work ethic, his drive and his quality throughout his time with the club have been second to none and the way in which he adapted to first team, League One football is a testament to his hard work and incredible talent.

“His performances on the pitch were one of the key factors which lead to Alfie receiving several call-ups to the England international camps, including being involved with a number of training sessions with England’s senior team and he now leaves the club with the experience to kick on even further and to fulfill his obvious potential.

“Alfie and his family will always be welcome back at Vale Park and we wish him nothing but the absolute best of luck in his future career; we look forward to watching him develop into the player that we all know he can become.

“As a club, we were ready for any eventuality with all of our loan players and negotiations are already ongoing to replace Alfie throughout this month.”

Everybody connected with Port Vale FC would like to thank Alfie for his time with the club and wish him every success in his future career.
