An Olivia Grocott hat-trick paved the way for huge win over Walsall.
It was an electric start from Vale as they led by two goals in the game's opening five minutes.
The first came, in the 4th minute, when Cassie Davies played a ball down the line for Macy Isherwood who found her strike partner Grocott, in the middle, who made no mistake in the finish from close range.
Then a minute later Isherwood added her name to the scoresheet as skipper, Sian Mcugh lifted the ball over the Walsall defence for the forward to chase onto and smash the ball into the top right corner on the volley.
Walsall nearly got one back within three minutes of Vale’s double, but keeper Connie Watts came to the rescue when Walsall’s striker was through on goal and rushed out quickly to smother the ball.
The Valiants were in trouble again in the 12th minute as Watts was beaten to the ball when trying to meet it, however, Naomi Sale-Hancock was alert to the danger and blocked any advances from Walsall’s forward.
The Valiants got their third after 28 minutes played through Grocott getting her body in front of her defender, as the ball was headed back to the Walsall box from their goal kick and lashed the ball into the roof of the goal.
Grocott got her hat-trick five minutes before half time when Mollie Prime picked her out in the 18-yard box, and she shifted the ball past the defender onto her favoured right foot where she struck the ball off the far-left post into the net.
Prime then wrapped up a dominant first half with her in swinging corner just before the break, as it ghosted through the crowded penalty area finding the far-left corner of the goal.
There was a huge appeal for a goal scored from the Walsall bench after the restart when a high looping ball headed toward the Vale goal pinballed between the ground and the goal frame before Watts collected it with the referee not convinced it had crossed the line.
The Valiants struggled for the next 20 minutes to regain control of the game and add to their afternoon’s goal tally.
Walsall pressure pegged one back, in the 65th minute as a long ball from Vale’s corner had Walsall’s striker through on goal where they slotted past Watts.
The Walsall pressure increased in the 78th minute as the Valiants conceded their second of the game from a free kick out on the left flank which sailed over the Vale wall and Watts into the far-right corner.
Whilst the pressure mounted towards the final ten minutes of the game, the Valiants kept their composure to see it through with astute defending and not let Walsall back in.
Grocott had the chance to put the game to bed in stoppage time as she knicked in front of a short back pass to the Walsall keeper but her shot ran agonisingly wide of the mark.
However, the Valiants had done the work in the first half and in a reversed fixture played away from their home in Kidsgrove they managed to secure another crucial three points and remain unbeaten in the league.
