Port Vale Football Club can confirm that Adeteye Gbadehan has signed a short-term contract that will see him stay at the Vale Park until at least January 2024.
The 19-year-old has been training with the Valiants for a number of weeks and has penned a short-term deal to help further his development and to help the Andy Crosby and his team to further assess the young midfielder.
The American teenager played for Future SC Monarchs, where he won the Dallas Cup in 2021 and earlier this year caught the eye of Brentford and Southampton but it’s with the Valiants where he’ll be getting his first taste of English football.
Director of Football, David Flitcroft said:
“We’re looking forward to having Adeteye with us over the next few months. What we have assessed over the short period we have had Adi train with us is untapped potential.
"He has a desire and determination to succeed and adapt to the English game and we believe he will have the right people and structure around him that will give him the best possible chance to make that a reality.
“The nature of the deal allows us to see him in a competitive environment whilst he trains with our first team, it will also give him the potential to earn himself a longer deal.”
Talking about Adeteye joining the squad, Andy Crosby said:
"Adeteye has been with us for a couple of weeks and he's learning what it is to be a Port Vale player. He's showing all of the key attributes needed and has the desire and enthusiasm to improve and develop himself within the game.
"We're looking forward to working with him and we'll be closely monitoring his development whilst he is with us at Vale Park"
