  • Taylor: “We can take confidence from our performances, which will lead to better results. We have to keep being consistent. I though we outran them, had wave after wave of attack and going forward we were really good.”

Port Vale striker Matty Taylor was pleased to score his first goal for the club as Darrell Clarke’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

Reflecting post-match with iFollow the Vale, the 32-year-old, who is currently on loan at Vale Park from Oxford United, added:

“I am delighted to get off the mark; the first one is always the hardest one for any striker. I have had a couple disallowed which has been frustrating but it was nice to see one finally hit the net.

“We have been playing really well lately and we want to keep performances high and finish the season strongly.

“We can take confidence from our performances, which will lead to better results. We have to keep being consistent. I though we outran them, had wave after wave of attack and going forward we were really good.

“We want to keep improving and finish the season as strongly as we can to finish as high up the table as we can.”
