Joint Statement from Port Vale FC and Crewe Alexandra

Port Vale Football Club and Crewe Alexandra wish to make it clear that ‘tragedy chanting’ will never be tolerated inside their stadiums.

The practice – chanting about tragic events involving the opposition – or any other type of discriminatory or abusive chanting has no place in football.

Both clubs will adopt a zero-tolerance approach during tomorrow’s Carabao Cup fixture at Vale Park (Tuesday, August 29).

Anybody found to be engaged in tragedy chanting will be banned by their respective club.

Port Vale Football Club and Crewe Alexandra would like to thank all supporters for their cooperation in this matter.
