Port Vale Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of striker Dan Butterworth on loan from Championship side Blackburn Rovers for the 2022/23 season.
Butterworth, who turns 23 this month, moved to Ewood Park as an Under 18, having been with Manchester United’s Academy as a schoolboy.
Having scored 32 goals for Rovers’ Under 21 and Under 18 sides, Butterworth was handed his first team debut during the 2018/19 campaign, initially featuring in Carabao Cup fixtures against Lincoln City and Bournemouth, before making his Championship debut in a 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in April 2019.
Last season, he made 14 appearances in Rovers’ senior team before spending the second half of the campaign at Fleetwood Town, helping the Fylde coast side secure their League One status alongside Vale forward Ellis Harrison.
Commenting on the addition of Butterworth, Vale manager Darrell Clarke said: "Dan is a great player and is similar to what we have in James Wilson, his link play is excellent and he will strengthen our forward line.
"He has experience at this level and also at the level above and will be a great addition to the squad."
