- Port Vale striker, who is currently on loan at Vale Park from West Ham United, discusses his recent form ahead of League One trip to Cambridge United
- Mipo: “I am enjoying it at the moment; I managed to come on and score on Saturday and got another goal during the week so I feel like I am hitting a good run of form and hopefully I can keep that going this weekend.”
Port Vale striker Mipo Odubeko says he wants to build on his recent run in front of goal after scoring in back-to-back Vale matches last week.
Mipo helped the Vale to get back into the game against Shrewsbury Town last weekend after being introduced as one of Darrell Clarke’s ‘game-changers’ from the bench.
The West Ham United loanee then followed up that goal with a strike in the Vale’s midweek victory over Wolves U21s in the Papa Johns Trophy.
“I am enjoying it at the moment,” Mipo said. “I managed to come on and score on Saturday and got another goal during the week so I feel like I am hitting a good run of form and hopefully I can keep that going this weekend.
“My motivation is to play more games, score more goals to help the team and push us further up the table.”
Between Mipo, Ellis Harrison and James Wilson, the Vale have ten league goals form their strikers in the opening quarter of the season.
And the striker says working with established players like Wilson and Harrison is only benefitting his development.
“I think it is a massive help; they have bags of experience and even if it is just little tips day in and day out,” Mipo added.
“If you watch the work that Willo and Ellis have done over the past few games, it is a credit to them. Ellis is scoring in almost every game and Willo is doing his stuff – he had a great game against Derby.
“It is a long season; we will have 40 or 50 games and you know there might be a run not in the team for five or six games and then you might be in for 15 games. Patience is key.”
