Port Vale Football Club is delighted to confirm that Rory Holden has signed a permanent contract with the club.
The 24-year-old started his career at hometown club Derry City before making a deadline day move to Bristol City following a successful trial in 2017.
Whilst under contract with The Robins, Holden experienced loan spells at then National League club, Barrow where he made 5 apperances in the first half of the 2018/19 season.
During the second half of the same season, Rory would make the step up to League Two's Rochdale before linking up with Darrell Clarke for the first time during a season long loan at Walsall in 2019/20.
Rory made his move to the Bescot stadium permanent in 2020 after impressing in his loan spell with the West Midlands outfit.
Speaking about his latest recruit, Darrell Clarke said: "I know all about Rory's qualities, what and he's like as a lad and a player, in fact he was one of my best players at Walsall, he has put a lot of work and effort into his game that has made him a top player.
"Recently he has had an awful time with injuries and we've done a thorough medical and he's gone through an unbelivable training reigime to get him where I think he needs to be.
"He has had game minutes (30 minutes vs Rochdale and 60 Minutes in a Behind Closed Doors match against Blackburn), and he is looking more confident and sharper in training and I think he will be a very useful addition through the coming season.
"We've had to be sensible with the offer that we've given to him but it gives him the opportunity to get himself back into first team football and i f we get him to the levels that I know he is capable of we're going to have a top player on our hands."
