Jake Taylor completes transfer to Morecambe FC

Port Vale Football Club can confirm that Jake Taylor has today completed a permanent transfer to League One side Morecambe FC for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old joined the Valiants from Nottingham Forest in January 2021 following a successful loan spell with the club in the previous season.

Taylor made a total 56 appearances at Vale across all competitions, including 14 league appearances last season as Darrell Clarke’s side won promotion to League One through the 2021/22 Play-Off Final.

Speaking to us about the transfer, Director of Football David Flitcroft said:

“This is a deal that suited both clubs and we have ensured that Port Vale remain protected through the deal that has been agreed.

“Jake’s first spell with the club was excellent but, unfortunately, the second spell has been hampered due to injury and his availability in training and in games.

“Jake wants to play games and he deserves to play games, but that’s not something we could guarantee him due to the competition we have within the group.

“Tom Conlon is on a great trajectory in his return from injury, we’ve seen the emergence of Ben Garrity who is a goalscoring midfielder and with the addition of Funso Ojo, we can’t guarantee anyone game time because competition will be fierce as we prepare for life in League One.”

We’d like to go on record and thank Jake for his time spent at Vale Park and would like to wish him the best of luck in this new chapter in his career.
