Match Report | Port Vale 1-3 Bristol Rovers

The run of five consecutive wins came to an end in Burslem this afternoon

The Valiants came into this game having won their last five and they started this game superbly. On two minutes Harry Charsley produced a cross into the area from the left which found Jamie Proctor who finished well to put ahead early on.

Bristol Rovers were also in fine form and equalised on ten minutes. Elliot Anderson was thread through on the left and fired into the roof of the net from inside the area to tie the game.

Rovers came again and went ahead two minutes past the half-hour mark when Antony Evans’ ball was whipped into the area and was touched home by James Connolly at the back post. Five minutes later Elliot Anderson took the ball to the right flank and took on an effort from outside the area but it went high and wide.

On 41 minutes a ball in from the left found Josh Grant free in the area but his strike was weak and rolled past the far post.

In the second-half substitute, Dan Jones was threaded through one on one with James Belshaw on 70 minutes but his effort just went wide of the goal.

Free-kick for the visitors in the final ten minutes following a foul on Elliot Anderson. A brilliant save from Aidan Stone who dived and caught the attempt before starting an attack on the break.

In stoppage time Rovers made sure of the points as Ryan Loft raced away on goal and lobbed the ball over Stone to double the visitor’s lead in the dying minutes.
