Brad Walker to join the Valiants New Page

Port Vale Football Club is delighted to confirm Brad Walker has agreed to sign for the Valiants upon the expiry of his current contract with Shrewsbury Town, on an initial two-year deal.

The club are pleased to secure a player of Walker’s calibre, who joins Vale with a Sky Bet League One pedigree following interest from other EFL clubs.

Walker began his career with Hartlepool United, making his Football League debut in 2013. The 6ft 1 defensive midfielder made over 107 appearances for the Pools, scoring 10 goals.

The Billingham-born operator then went on to sign for Crewe, with loan spells at Wrexham in between his stints with the Railwaymen and Salop respectively. At 25-years of age, Walker has already amassed more than 230 professional appearances and is hoping to hit the ground running at Vale Park.

Speaking on the confirmation of our first summer transfer window agreement, Manager Darrell Clarke said:

“We are delighted to confirm an agreement with Brad Walker, who really sets the tone in terms of our first midfield addition. He has bought into the vision presented by myself and David Flitcroft and has shown a real hunger to help Port Vale develop on the field.

“He is of a good age and is coming in as a defensive ball playing central midfielder and we are looking forward to welcoming Brad and seeing what he can produce in a Port Vale shirt.”

Chief Executive Colin Garlick further commented:

“The club’s commitment to the management back in February made a clear statement of intent and Brad Walker further highlights that commitment going forward. Brad is a demonstration of the type of the player we would like to bring to the club, and we hope he will help us achieve our ambitions.”

We will release an exclusive first interview with Brad Walker via our official Youtube channel in due course
