The 6ft 3 striker with over 50 career goals, netted against then Premier League Blackburn Rovers and secured a deal with the Stanley, having a short loan spell with Southport before beginning to battle for a place in the Accrington team.
He made further moves to Bath and Welling United before being signed by Forest Green Rovers in 2014, helping the Green Army reach the Conference Play-Off’s in back-to-back seasons.
Guthrie returned to the football league with Colchester United after spending two years at the New Lawn, with the forward netting his first career hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Carlisle United in 2017, earning a nomination for the January Player of the Month.
Guthrie, who featured and scored once for the England C Team in 2016, was picked up by Stevenage where he bagged 19 goals for the Boro and has featured for Bradford City so far this season.
“I wanted to come somewhere that I am wanted and that I feel is a good fit for me”.
“I’ve played wide, but I prefer to play through the middle. For a big guy, I’m quite mobile and can get in the channels and come short. I wouldn’t say there’s an all-out standout [attribute], I think my all-round game is well rounded.”
Welcome to the Vale, Kurtis Guthrie!
