Interim manager Danny Pugh gave us an update following a number of injuries that were picked up during Tuesday's Papa John's Trophy match versus Sunderland.
Tom Pope
Tom received treatment on the pitch in the Valiants 2-0 loss in the Papa John’s Trophy but managed to play through the pain despite sustaining ligament damage and a suspected fracture to his arm. Manager Danny Pugh said: "We’re not sure on the severity of the injury to Tom and we’re waiting for him to see a specialist tomorrow (Friday) morning before we make any decisions on him.”
Alex Hurst
Alex suffered an early knock during the Papa John Trophy’s clash which saw him leave the field after 20 minutes. On Hurst’s chances of making the squad for the SkyBet League 2 fixture against Forest Green Rovers, Pugh said: “We’re hoping Alex will be fit for Saturday’s game but we’ve got to assess him in training tomorrow (Friday) to see if he’ll be fully fit.”
Danny Whitehead
Danny also picked up an injury versus Sunderland and had to be replaced by new signing Jake Taylor around the hour mark. On Whitehead’s injury, Pugh told us: “Unfortunately, we don’t think Danny will be back in time for the Forest Green game.”
James Gibbons
There is more positive news about defender James Gibbons who will be returning to full training on Friday after a lengthy period on the sidelines.
