Vale boast the best defence in the league having conceded just twice, and will be hoping to keep that run going against the free-scoring Ammies, who have netted nine times so far in the league,

John Askey saw Harry McKirdy and Manny Oyeleke return to training last week and has been handed a further boost with David Amoo also back in training, although he is still without the injured Zak Mills and James Gibbons whilst Nathan Smith returns after completion of his self-isolation.

“We’ve got to play with a lot more intensity and get back to what we were doing last season.”

The Ammies will have all eyes from the English footballing world on them for tomorrow’s game as Manchester United legend Paul Scholes prepares for his first game in charge as interim manager, following the sacking of Graham Alexander after two years in charge of the club.

Salford have had an impressive start to their season, yet to be beaten.

One to watch: James Wilson

The Ammies acquisition of James Wilson to the Peninsula Stadium was one of the biggest stories of the January transfer window last season, scoring twice and assisting once in his six appearances.

The 24-year-old striker graduated from the Manchester United academy before representing Brighton & Hove Albion, Derby County and Sheffield United in loan moves.

Wilson, who has appeared for England at under-16 to under-21 level moved to Aberdeen in the SPL on loan before signing on a permanent basis prior to his January move to the Peninsula Stadium.

The Ammies will be hoping that Wilson, who scored three goals in 15 appearances for Man United, will keep his form going at Vale Park having scored twice so far this season.
