Top Goal Scorer: Mark Cullen, Tom Pope, Devante Rodney, Tom Conlon (2 goals)

The Valiants will be looking to pick themselves up from Saturday’s last minute heartbreak at the hands of league leaders Newport County, with three points at Stevenage tonight.

Despite a string of poor results, the Valiants could still be as high as fifth place come this evening, should results go our way.

We will be hoping to replicate last season’s result at the Lamex Stadium, where a late Tom Pope penalty secured us a 1-0 win in this fixture back in January.

In terms of team selection, John Askey will be without Leon Legge and Luke Joyce who serve their suspensions following their dismissals in previous games, whilst Tom Pope will be unavailable as he continues to isolate following government guidelines. James Gibbons is still unavailable for selection. David Amoo and Tom Conlon are doubts ahead of the game.

“There’s still plenty to play for, it’s still early doors, we’re not in too bad of a position but we’ve got to start picking up points again.”

The Boro, who survived in Sky Bet League Two last season following Macclesfield’s expulsion from the EFL, are once again struggling during the opening period of the campaign, having won just one league game all season, leaving them second from bottom in the table, inside the relegation zone.

Alex Revell’s side are winless since their first home game of the season where they defeated Oldham Athletic 3-0, but they will be looking to change that stat tonight.

One to watch: Scott Cuthbert

Stevenage captain Scott Cuthbert has been a mainstay in Alex Revell’s side this season, and has been a regular in the Boro side since 2018.

The former Scotland U21 defender started his youth career at Celtic, before he had spells in England at Swindon Town, Leyton Orient and Luton Town before signing for Stevenage in May 2018.

He won Stevenage’s Player of the Season after a solid 2018/19 campaign and his performances have been critical to Stevanage’s success.

With Revell’s side struggling to pick up points, Cuthbert’s defensive prowess has continued to prove key to helping them fight for their survival in the football league.
