The Port Vale Ladies entertain AFC Telford United in their league opener this Sunday, hoping to mirror the form they’ve shown so far in the FA Cup.
The Ladies have progressed through two FA Cup rounds so far this season, emphatically beating two sides from the league above.
A positive result in Sunday’s Division One North opener would put a marker down for the rest of the season and continue the momentum going into next week’s derby game with Stoke City.
Kyle Adams, Football Development Manager at the Port Vale Foundation, hopes the Ladies push on from their FA Cup run.
“The FA Cup performances have set the bar for the rest of the season,” Adams said. “There aren’t any easy games in this league, but if the team shows the same commitment and quality every weekend then I believe we’ll get the results.”
This is the Ladies’ second season in the Second Tier of the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League and the team have their sights set firmly on promotion.
“I expect us to be challenging this season”, Adams tell us. “There’s quality throughout the squad, in every position, and the most important thing is that there’s a real belief among the players and management that we can do something special.”
Come along and show the Ladies your support! The games are ideal for families and attendance is FREE.
Sunday’s game kicks off at 2pm at Bradeley Football Centre.
