The Vale secured their first away league win of the season last night in a 2-1 win against Bradford, and Legge emphasises that the Valiants can match the very best in the division.
Following relegation from League One last term, Bradford have made an emphatic start to life back in League Two and were sat in second place before last night’s game, yet an impressive performance from Askey’s side condemned the Yorkshire outfit to just their second home defeat in the league this campaign.
The Vale have also beaten both Plymouth and Forest Green so far this season, and Legge claims that the boys must have more belief going into these types of games.
Askey’s men are now up and running on the road, and the Vale centre-half stresses that the boys need to look back on this result as a blueprint for future away fixtures.
“As you can see I’m buzzing, it was a great result for us, every man to a tee was quality tonight, and we have to look back on this every time we go away and this is the blueprint.
“The teams that we’ve come up against we’ve got good results, the bigger sides in this league I suppose you could call them.
“On our day we can match the likes of these, as Dave Kevan says, we’ve got no one to fear in this league, we need to have a bit more belief and we can go far , we just need to have a look at what we did tonight and really take it from here.
Legge also explained how the whole dressing room was ‘buzzing’ after the game, following Atkinson’s stoppage time winner against his former club.
The 34-year-old also went on to praise the team’s performance and pointed out how the whole squad worked for each other to grind out the win.
The fans and players had been suffering on the road so far this campaign, and Legge describes the passion in the celebrations after the Vale finally secured that elusive first away win.
“We’re buzzing, the whole team is buzzing, we’ve managed to get a great result against a really good side and what more do you want, you’ve got three points away from home against one of the better sides in the league.
“The second half was a little bit different to the first but we defended well, everyone fought for each other and that’s what you want, to just grind out a good result away from home.
“You can see the passion with the lads from that celebration, I’ve ran from one corner to the other just to go and celebrate with the fans."
