It's the time of the year where many of us get to spend Christmas surrounded by our loved ones. Some people however are not as fortunate with many spending Christmas Day in hospital.
To spread some Christmas spirit, Port Vale's players and staff members spent their Wednesday afternoon with patients and hospital staff at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
As well as spending the afternoon chatting and having photos with everyone, the players came together to buy presents for some of the younger patients in the Childrens Ward!
The players and staff were split into three different groups and taken around different parts of the hospital to spend time with everybody.
David Worrall and Tom Pope were part of the group visiting the Children's Intensive Care Unit at the hospital. Having spent time talking to the families of the children in the hospital, Worrall hoped the team were able to bring some sort of joy for the children and their families at such a difficult time.
"It's so hard to see children in that situation especially so close to Christmas. They should be at home surrounded by their family and friends and looking forward to opening to their presents, unfortunately some are unable to.
"So for us, if we're able to help and take the children's or parents' minds off their current situation and bring a smile to their face, then we will in any way we can.
"It makes you appreciate everything you have. The staff work tirelessly and do a great job at the hospital. We met some fantastic people, talking to the patients, their family and the staff, they were great.
