We're pleased to announce the signing of defender Shaun Brisley on a one year-deal with the club.
Brisley arrives at Vale Park with a wealth of experience having made just under 300 appearances for clubs across League Two to the Championship.
The 29 year old made his professional debut against Notts County for Macclesfield Town, his hometown club, in March 2008 and his development over the subsequent four years led to then-Championship side Peterborough United signing him for a fee in the region of £300,000.
Loan spells with Scunthorpe United, Leyton Orient and Northampton Town was followed by a move to Carlisle United for a season, before joining former Notts County boss Kevin Nolan at Meadow Lane on a two-year deal. Brisley would go onto make over 50 appearances for the Magpies.
Now signed and sealed with the Vale, the gaffer is pleased to have added a well establised defender to the ranks.
“Shaun’s had past experience, he’s played in the Championship, the first division and this level as well. He’s got experience so somebody like Shaun could be ideal for us, because if we brought in another young defender the back four could end up being too young. I feel as though we do need to make sure we’ve got enough from now until January.”
