Sporting Life Preview

The international break doesn’t stop the action in Sky Bet League Two this weekend. Sporting Life’s Tom Carnduff previews the action.

They may have been beaten play-off semi-finalists last season, but Lincoln continue to go from strength-to-strength as they sit top at this early point.

The Imps are unbeaten with 16 points from a possible 18, and they welcome a Crawley side who have to make a managerial change after Harry Kewell departed for Notts County.

County sit bottom of the standings, but they will be hoping for a new manager bounce when they travel to take on Exeter who are still in a good position despite losses in recent weeks.

They may have left their two encounters empty-handed, but those games were against Lincoln and MK Dons who are both sitting within the top three of the division.

MK face a tough test next time out when they welcome Forest Green, who are unbeaten with two wins and four draws to their name.

Sitting in second is Newport County, who have enjoyed a storming start to the season with four wins from six games.

Like the team below them, they also face a side sitting in the play-offs as they travel to take on Oldham.

The Exiles have scored eight but conceded seven this season, which makes Sky Bet’s enhanced offer of a Newport win and both teams to score at enhanced odds of 11/2 an intriguing bet.

Colchester are another team who have seen a positive start to the season, and the fact that they have scored 13 and conceded just four highlights how they are a strong outfit.

They will need to be on top of their game though, with James Norwood carrying his fantastic form from last season into the current campaign as he keeps scoring for Tranmere.

John Sheridan’s Carlisle will look to bounce back after defeat to Mansfield last time out stopped their three game winning streak.

They’re on the road away at Cambridge, who halted a run of two consecutive losses with a win over Stevenage.

Phil Brown’s Swindon will look to turn one point into three when they travel to Morecambe, with Town drawing their last three encounters.

Morecambe may have one win to their name so far, but they will be hopeful that home advantage can help them to another victory here.

The side sitting below the Shrimpers is Macclesfield, and they still await their first Sky Bet League Two victory.

The Silkmen are away at Stevenage this weekend, who have endured a mixed start to the current season.

One side going for back-to-back wins is Bury, who will look to build on that victory over Morecambe when they take on Grimsby.

Michael Jolley’s side are winless in four, but will be looking to pick up their first three points since that win over Macclesfield back at the start of August.

Cheltenham are in action when they take on Northampton, with both sides aiming for victory after dropping points last weekend.
