Port Vale make the trip to Walsall this Tuesday evening as Neil Aspin's side play their final group game of the Checkatrade Trophy, but what happened last time the two sides met?
The Valiants travelled to The Bescot stadium with just two games to play of the 2016/17 season, needing two wins to stay afloat in League One.
Michael Brown's Vale side got half the job done against The Saddlers, running out 1-0 winners via a late Chris Eagles screamer.
Walsall dominated the opening encounters as they almost took the lead on 24 minutes as Kieron Morris smacked the bar before Vale stopper Leonardo Fasan did well to tip over a close range header from James O'Connor.
Though, Remie Streete, Sam Foley and Dan Turner passed up chances toward the end of the first period to give The Valiants the lead heading into the break.
Amadou Bakayoko was the next Walsall player to go close, however similarly to O'Connor, the centre-forward couldn't beat Fasan in the Vale net.
The Saddlers were made to rue their missed chances as Eagles proved the difference, lashing a 20-yard screamer into the top corner to send all three points back to Burslem, keeping their survival hopes alive heading into the final game of the season.
However, it wasn't meant to be in the end for Brown's side, as a goalless draw with Fleetwood Town was not enough to secure The Valiants safety in League One.
