Port Vale travel South to Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend, but what happened the last time these two sides met earlier on in the season?
The last time Port Vale and Wycombe Wanderers met came at the start of the season where the first home game of the 2017/18 campaign commenced.
After winning their opening game at Crawley Town the week before, Vale Park played host to Gareth Ainsworth’s men for the first home game of the League Two season. It was a poor start for Michael Brown’s men who found themselves a goal down within two minutes. Adebayo Akinfenwa headed the ball past Sam Hornby and into the bottom corner.
Just ten minutes late, Paris Cowan-Hall doubled the lead finishing a fine right-footed effort into the far corner.
Things got from bad to worse for Vale as Wycombe got their third within 25 minutes, with Akinfenwa getting his second of the game.
Later on during the game, Vale pulled two back through Dan Turner and Ben Whitfield which nearly caused a late comeback for The Valiants before the referee blew for full-time.
