During the forthcoming Easter holidays, the Vale Academy will be taking 26 players to Belgium to compete in the Hasselt Cup Tournament.
Players from the under 11 and under 13 teams will be accompanied by parents and Academy coaches for the 3-day Tournament which will feature academy teams from clubs based in Belgium, Germany, France and Holland.
The party will be accommodated at a holiday village in Ooststappen Hengelhoef and the tournament will take place at the nearby ground of RC Hades who play in the Belgium League 4th tier.
The Academy took the under 12 squad to play in a similar competition in Holland last year and were delighted to finish as runners up.
“That was a great experience for the players.” said Academy FDP Lead Coach Lee Foyle.
“The opportunity to play against teams from a number of different European countries is invaluable, as is the time the players spend together during the tour which is great for social interaction and team spirit. We are all looking forward to taking part in this latest tournament.”
Let’s hope that the teams can go one better than 2017 and come back this time as winners!
