It was that time of year once again where young aspiring footballers braved the cold weather, as our Port Vale Foundation hosted the EFL Kids Cup 2018/19.
The competition gives schools the chance of winning their way to the regional finals to represent the club, which is then just one step away from having the opportunity of playing at Wembley after the Play Off final!
18 teams took part in the Under 11 (Year 5/6) competition across the morning, and after 49 games it was St George & St Martin's Catholic Academy who came out on top with a 5-0 victory over Mill Hill Academy.
Football Development Officer Kyle Adams was delighted with how the competition had gone on the day, as the teams battled each other and the poor weather conditions.
"It's brilliant to give the opportunity to so many children to compete in a prestigious national tournament and have the chance to compete at Wembley.
"We have a super relationship with the local schools and it is brilliant to see a lot of them come together for something like this and also showcase the ability of the pupils.
"Although this year the weather has not been kind to us the attitude of each and every school has been superb yet again and the children have been a credit to their schools.
Well done to all those that have taken part but there has to be a winner so a big congratulations goes to St George & St Martin'sand I have no doubt that they will represent us well in the regional finals."
