Port Vale host promotion-chasing Lincoln City on Saturday, but what happened the last time these two sides met earlier on in the season?
The last time these two sides met came in November where The Imps were victorious 3-1 at Sincil Bank.
Frustrations continued for Neil Aspin’s men as The Valiants fell to 22nd in the Sky Bet League Two table. Lincoln continued their good form, as they rose to 10th.
The hosts went 1-0 up through Matt Green who nodded home Harry Anderson’s cross on ten minutes before Danny Pugh’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
But, The Imps continued to dominate and impress on the day with goals from Michael Bostwick and Luke Waterfall finishing off the tie.
Throughout history, this has always been an interesting tie with both sides winning the same amount – 31 times each. The teams have also drew 22 times competiviely, taking the total of games to 84 since 1892.
The most recent successful tie came in 2011 where the two sides last met at Vale Park. Goals from Doug Loft and Marc Richards gave Mark Grew’s men the victory in a promotion-chasing campaign.
Let’s hope for a similar result on Saturday.
