We can confirm that we have completed the emergency loan signing of Derby County Goalkeeper Kelle Roos.
The 6ft 5in ‘keeper links up with the Vale squad ahead of this weekend’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Forest Green Rovers at Vale Park.
Kelle, who was born in the Netherlands, began his career coming through the ranks at the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Willem ll and N.E.C.
In 2013, Roos moved to England and joined Nuneaton Town in the National League, playing 13 games and keeping eight clean sheets during his short spell with the club.
His good form alerted the attention of many clubs in England, where he would go on to have trials with Liverpool, Everton, Sunderland and Cardiff, as well as training with Ipswich Town, Bolton Wanderers and Derby County.
The 25 year-old was then snapped up by The Rams, signing on a two-and-a-half year deal and was a regular in the matchday squad, behind then Lee Grant.
Kelle has enjoyed loan spells with Rotherham United, AFC Wimbledon and Bristol Rovers during his time at Pride Park, making a total of 54 appearances.
During his time with The Dons, he played a huge part in helping the club win the League Two Play-Off Final in 2016, keeping a clean sheet in the 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle.
Roos will now compete with the likes of Sam Hornby and Ryan Boot for the number one spot, with Rob Lainton out injured and Joe Slinn currently out on loan.
