As Port Vale host Notts County on Saturday, we look at the last time these two sides met which came in an important battle for both sides in 2015.
The last time the two came together was during the 2014/15 League One campaign where Port Vale won the bout 1-0 at Meadow Lane.
It was a first-half finish from Mark Marshall who made the difference in the game as Vale looked towards catching up with a play-off position – and Notts trying to avoid the drop.
The Magpies had many chances in the game, but ‘keeper Chris Neal was in fine form to deny them from getting the breakthrough. His sublime stop on the 54th minute from Gary Thompson was the pick of the bunch as Vale held on.
The result meant that Rob Page’s men climbed to 9th in League One, just three points out of the play-off places. Notts dropped to 19th, preparing themselves for the remaining 13 games.
