Last Time We Met - Forest Green Rovers

As Port Vale host Forest Green Rovers at Vale Park on Saturday afternoon, we look back at the last time the two sides faced each other.

In November of 2012, the Valiants travelled to The New Lawn for an FA Cup first round tie. In a five-goal thriller, Micky Adams' men ran out 3-2 winners.

Goals from Ashley Vincent and Clayton McDonald ensured Vale pulled themselves into an early two-goal lead, but Forest Green mounted a fight back.

James Norwood curled an effort into the top corner before half-time to spark the hosts into life. Then, four minutes after the interval, Eddie Oshodi levelled things with a tap-in from close range.

Forest Green pushed for a winner late on and they saw several chances go astray, only to be punished when Ben Williamson scored Vale's winner in the 80th minute.

The triumph saw Port Vale progress into the second round of the FA Cup and set up a tie with Sheffield United, but the Blades came out on top.
