Kelle Roos is hoping that Vale can build on their three-game winning run at home to Swindon Town next time out.
The Valiants’ goalkeeper was delighted with the application of the team during the 1-0 win away to Exeter City, and he believes the good run of form will boost morale.
However, the 25-year-old knows that he and his teammates must keep focused as they look to climb the table in Sky Bet League Two.
“It’s something to build on and it gives us confidence, but it’s not a game changing situation,” he said.
“We are just beginning something that we want to build upon and it’s the starting block we needed. Three solid wins, nine points - I’m happy with that.”
Although the entire Vale team deserve credit for keeping two clean sheets in as many games, James Gibbons has received high praise for his performances at right-back.
At just 19 years of age, the defender has slotted in seamlessly and Roos took time to speak about his teammate following the win at St James’ Park.
“Gibbo has settled in very well,” he said.
“He has got a great pair of legs, he can get up and down the pitch very well and his delivery into the strikers is brilliant.
“I think he can be very pleased with the performances he has put in.”
It wasn’t just down on the pitch where the Valiants stood out, however. The 243 supporters that made the trip to the south coast were in fine voice throughout, something which Roos is grateful for.
He said: “That’s never something we could complain about, we want some more points and so do they - we stick together as a club and it’s really nice to be a part of that.”
