Neil Aspin has revealed that the squad will be without midfielder Ben Whitfield on Saturday, following his knock against Exeter City on Saturday.
Whitfield has heavily impressed since his loan move from Bournemouth in the Summer as the gaffer comes to terms with the loss.
Aspin said: “Ben landed awkwardly and when you first look at it, it’s a nasty one.
“He’s been scanned and we are waiting for the results but I don’t want to put a time on how long he will be out for.
“With a bit of luck, he’ll be back in reasonable time but he’s out for Saturday.”
The blow means that Ben will be unavailable for the visit of Swindon Town who travel to Vale Park on Saturday. Speaking about the matchup, Aspin feels that Vale will have to be at their best if they were to get a result.
“They’ve got a great record away from home”, said the gaffer.
“They’ve won five out of seven games and they had a good win on Saturday against Wycombe. They have some good players who are capable of scoring a goal and they will be a big test for us on Saturday. We will have to be at our best to get a result.
“We have identified their strengths but if we concentrate too much on them they could come on Saturday with a completely different line-up. It’s important to get our own team sorted and get them knowing their jobs first.”
