JJ - "They are massive. The fans pushed us on to get the points."

JJ Hooper spearheaded Port Vale’s long awaited first win in ten league games last weekend against Swindon Town.

Hooper bagged himself two goals in the 3-2 win over their relegation rivals as they leapt three points closer to safety.

Hooper spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game about the importance of the three points: “Most important thing was the three points, and I feel like we deserved them as well. It is a massive three points for us and hopefully we can push on, on Tuesday.”

The striker was quick to praise the presence of the fans, saying that they helped the team push on for the victory: “They are massive. The fans pushed us on to get the points, they were like the twelfth man today and obviously we got the rewards.

“They are massive. Every single week, especially at home but away as well, they are brilliant for us and they offer that extra push for us that we need to push on and stay up.”

The 23-year old curled in a fantastic free kick to put Vale two goals ahead, but is humbly focused more on the result: “The gaffer just shouted to me and told me to take the free kick, and I felt confident enough to do so and it went in.

It is nice to score. But obviously the most important thing is the result for the team.”

Hooper will return to Sixfields on Tuesday after having a loan their spell there earlier in the season under ex-Vale boss Rob Page, and is looking forward to the trip: “Yes, I’m looking forward to that game. I can’t wait to try and get three points, and a goal as well would be lovely.”
