Montano - "It's Exciting That It's All Done"

Michael Brown added Cristian Montano to his list of summer recruits last week as the winger made the move to Vale Park from Bristol Rovers.

The former West Ham United youth product signed a two-year deal with the Valiants and he is looking to make a positive impact in League Two during the upcoming season. On switching Bristol for Burslem, Montano said:

"It's exciting that it's all done and dusted and we can just focus on working on fitness now.

"I remember playing here last season for Bristol Rovers and it was difficult. We were chasing the game and Vale were all over us in stages.

"Now I'm here, hopefully I'll get used to the pitch and find it a lot easier to play on."

With the surface at Vale Park being wide and suited to expansive play, Montano is hopeful that he can be a part of a successful team going forward.

He said: "I'm a hardworking player, a team player. Pace is one of my strengths and you can expect a bit of trickery from time to time, but I want to feed the strikers and help the team score goals."

From a personal perspective, the dynamic forward has set himself a few targets to strive for during his time at Vale Park.

He said: "The main thing is to help the team achieve promotion back to League One. I'd like to be able to reach double figures in terms of goals too.

"It would be great to match that with assists and I'll work hard for the team to get results. Fingers crossed we can taste some success."
