Sam Hornby became the fifth summer signing under manager Michael Brown this afternoon from Burton Albion.
The 22 year-old will be looking to battle it out with Rob Lainton, Ryan Boot and Joe Slinn throughout the 2017/18 campaign.
Following the completion of the deal, Sam said how easy it was to make his mind up that Vale Park was the place for him.
He said: “It’s brilliant to get it done I’m delighted to be here, it was quite and easy decision once I knew there was interest and I’m glad to get it over the line.
“I’m here to get out on the pitch and establish myself and hopefully play as many games as I can this year and also work very hard in order to get out on to the pitch and prove to people that I can play for the club.
“Hopefully it comes with hard work trying to get the number one spot, and if I work hard hopefully I’ll be rewarded with game time, but you’ve got to work hard off the pitch and have a good pre-season and we will see where we are then.”
The signing of Sam and Rob Lainton will add to the competition alongside Ryan Boto and Joe Slinn, something Sam is looking forward too.
“You always want competition as a goalkeeper, it’s a hard position as only one of us can play, but we will work and bounce off each other no doubt.
“In any position you need to play and as a goalkeeper it is very important you get games and I managed to get into a tough league playing with Kidderminster and get some games under my belt.”
