Vale welcomed a new face this afternoon, as Antony Kay put pen to paper on a two year deal at the club.
Kay became the seventh new face at Vale Park following the arrivals of Tom Pope, Rob Lainton, Cristian Motnano, Joe Davis, Sam Hornby and Graham Kelly.
Upon completing his move, the experienced defender said how he was looking to replicate promotion for the fifth time in his career with Vale, as he set out his aims for the season.
He said: “I’ve come here for one reason only and that’s to get promoted, I think as a club there’s no reason why we can’t get promoted next season.
“We have to see it as the aim, we have some quality players who have been there and done it before so hopefully with that mix and blend of a bit of youth and experience we can do that.
First time I spoke to the gaffer he had that aim as well, obviously the disappointment last season we’re looking to bounce right back up and I know quite a few of the players here as well so hopefully we can get that done.”
Antony was delighted to get the deal done and also spoke of his friendship with Tom Pope, who he links back up with for the second year in succession.
“I’m delighted, it’s took a few days, but I’m glad it’s all done and now we can get ready to kick on for the start of the season.
“I was with Popey at Bury last year and he’s my mate as well. He’s a local favourite here and I rang him and spoke to him about the club and he spoke really highly of the club and when I spoke to the gaffer it swayed it for me.”
“They’ve only had good things to say, I spoke to Browny at the end of last week and everything is positive and I’ve spoken to Morgs (Chris Morgan) and Tom Pope as well and everything is good so I’m delighted to get it all done.”
