Walker Reflects on Debut

Michael Brown’s unbeaten league record as Port Vale boss continued on Friday night as Vale drew with Bury.

Making their debuts were new loan signings Tyler Walker and Callum Guy.

Both players made an immediate impact in Burslem, with Guy claiming the man of the match award, and Walker scoring his first goal for the club.

Walker spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after the game about the team’s performance: “I think we bossed the game for the most part. We conceded 2 unlucky goals really but on the whole I really enjoyed it and thought the team played well,” he said.

Walker opened the scoring in the first half with a brilliant solo run which ended with a ferocious strike flying into the top corner; a moment he will savor: “It was awesome, I really enjoyed it and want to do my best to help the team,” he said.

The 20-year olds first game for the club was in front of the Vale Park faithful and he was not slow to praise the fans, or the club: “It is a nice ground here and the fans are wicked, and they support the team really well.

He continued: “It is just unlucky that we could not get the three points for them.”

With Friday’s performance in mind, and a tough away game coming up next weekend at Scunthorpe, Walker is hopeful that he has done enough to claim his stake in the next starting eleven: “I just want to work hard for the team. I’d like to think that I have done enough, but I will do everything I can from now until the next game to make sure that I am picked.

“It is going to be a tough game, which they all are to be fair. We will go there and try to do our very best as we did today,” he added.
