After three consecutive away games, the Valiants are back on home soil on Boxing Day as high-flying Coventry City travel to Vale Park, but what happened last time the teams met?
Vale made the journey to the Ricoh Arena back in September as the two sides tussled in Sky Bet League Two, but it was the Sky Blues who came out on top.
It took a piece of magic from Jodi Jones to seal the three points for Mark Robins’ men, with the tricky winger curling beyond Rob Lainton in the 24th minute.
The Valiants almost levelled things as Antony Kay crashed the crossbar with a header, but Coventry came out brighter in the second half, both Liam Kelly and Michael Doyle wasting opportunities to double the lead.
Michael Brown’s outfit were then handed a one-man advantage late on as Rod McDonald was sent off for a lunge on David Worrall, but they couldn’t salvage anything from the game.
Marcus Harness was denied by Lee Burge in the dying embers and that proved to be the final chance of the afternoon, with Vale falling to a slender defeat.
