Port Vale boss Michael Brown has his sights on bouncing back from the game against Wycombe this upcoming weekend against Chesterfield.
Despite a late comeback with two goals in the last five minutes, the Valiants suffered their first defeat of the season as three goals in the opening 25 minutes were enough for Gareth Ainsworth’s side.
Brown said that the last five minutes were a positive, but admits that Vale were simply not good enough in such conditions.
He said: “It give us something.
“It was a positive at the end that there was some fight left in the players but I think overall, they were well-below par today.”
Dan Turner and Ben Whitfield got the goals for Vale as Brown admits he was happy with Whitfield’s cameo appearance and happy for Dan to get his second goal of the campaign.
“Ben’s still working to get fit, it was a little cameo for him and a wonderful goal.
“It’s great for Dan, but it was a bad day with injuries and it looks like we have lost another two to serious injuries. It’s unbelievable really.”
It’s Chesterfield up next for the Valiants with the gaffer hoping to put things right heading into the game next Saturday.
“We will be working all week on Chesterfield. It will all start on Monday.”
