The last time Vale came up against tonight’s opponents, there was drama late on at Vale Park, thanks to Luke Rodgers.
Rodgers snatched a last minute equaliser to bring a close to a dramatic encounter that ended 3-3 in League One.
Leeds had stormed into the lead, as the visitors got off to the perfect start when experienced defender, Rui Marques had prodded United 1-0 up.
Then, just a matter of two minutes later, Dougie Freedman got in on the act and doubled the lead, to make it 2-0 to the Whites.
However, it was Vale who would be celebrating two goals in two minutes in the second half, as the Valiants were back in the game.
First, Paul Harsley converted a spot-kick to make it 2-1 and then moments later, Danny Whitaker levelled for Vale from close range.
Leeds continued to then push to get back into the lead and they succeeded, with many thinking they had stole three points in the 86th minute when Freedman got his second.
But, there was to be one final twist in the tale and it was Rodgers who smashed home in injury time to earn Vale a point.
