Gaffer Looks Ahead to Carabao Cup Clash

Following the away win over Crawley Town at the weekend, Michael Brown will be hoping that his side can replicate that on Wednesday night as they travel to Leeds United.

Having played at Elland Road for and against Leeds, the manager knows what to expect from the crowd and he acknowledges that it won't be an easy fixture.

Speaking after the opening day victory on Saturday, Brown shared his excitement ahead of the Carabao Cup first round tie.

He said: "It's a fantastic game for myself personally and for the football club to go and test ourselves. There will be 20,000 there, it's a great game and we are all looking forward to it."

One player who may not feature is Cristian Montano as the winger was replaced at half-time during the clash with Crawley.

No more injuries were picked up in that game, however, and Brown has been impressed with the new recruits. Both Michael Tonge and Antony Kay scored on their debuts and the manager was pleased with their overall contribution.

He said: "Antony was fantastic and Tongey [Michael Tonge] was as well. We saw a bit of quality on the ball from Michael.

"Once we got to 60 minutes we brought him off but he gave us that quality. For the second goal it was a fantastic delivery from Tonge and a great header from Kay.

"It was a shame to lose Monty [Cristian Montano] at half-time, that changed our style a little bit and it took us a bit of time to adjust but hopefully he's ok.

Speaking about the extent of the injury, Brown added: "It's just a bit of a nerve problem in the same hamstring so we just protected it.

"We have to make sure that he's going to be ok going forward so he might feature at Leeds or he might not."

The Valiants travel to Elland Road on Wednesday night looking to progress into the second round of the Carabao Cup. Kick-off is at 7:45pm and tickets are still available.
