We look back at the last meeting from the 2015-2016 season with Gillingham.
Gillingham 0-2 Port Vale
At Priestfield
League One
Saturday 16th April 2016
Attendance: 5,887 including 153 visiting supporters
Two goals in two first half minutes saw Vale take all three points home with them on the long trip home from Kent, proving that Vale were not content to just play the remainder of the season out.
A switch in tactics saw Vale lining up with three centre backs – a change which was vindicated by the result against a home side sitting in the play-off places.
Any thoughts of the summer break were put completely to one side, with Vale turning on a thoroughly professional performance, with Ben Purkiss setting up the two goals for Ajay Leitch-Smith and skipper Carl Dickinson.
