It has been a great start to the season for Bruno Ribeiro and his side, with the team currently sitting in ninth, level on points with the play-offs.
With a chance to set the best start to a season at home since the move to Vale Park with a win against Gillingham, there is a buzz around Burslem.
Winger, Jerome Thomas say him and his team mates have very clear ambitions for the season and is looking forward to a good year.
He said: “There’s nothing wrong with aiming for a top two spot. From what I’ve seen in the league, its very inconsistent, and there doesn’t seem to be any teams that are standing out who could run away with it.
“I can’t see why we can’t put ourselves in the hat for that promotion.
“If we fall short, we will be where we want to be anyway, battling for promotion, either automatically or through the play-offs.”
Port Vale face Gillingham at home this weekend, and Thomas is positive going into the game.
“I’ve just completed two 90 minutes, which I haven’t done in a while, so I’m feeling good about it.”
Furthermore, the ex-Arsenal man doesn’t think that his team mates are far off their best.
“We’re very confident going into home games, and this is something we need to carry over to away games.
“We have the personnel and the formation to play the football the gaffer wants us to, and with a few tweaks I think we’ll be hitting the heights we can.”
