This weekend Port Vale enter the first round of the FA Cup as they entertain Stevenage at Vale Park.
It will be the first time many of the Vale squad will have taken part in the oldest national competition.
The competition is one of the greatest domestic cup’s in the world and one the players will be excited for.
The game also means a week break from the League for Vale and defender Sam Hart believe it will give the team a chance to regroup following a run of games without a win.
He said: “It’s time for the players to regroup, but we have important games and with the league games coming thick and fast we get a chance to regroup and focus now.
“We’ve got a big squad with a lot of goof players and these games could be an opportunity for some of those to show the manager what we’ve got.”
The clash with Stevenage will also mark the first time that Liverpool loanee Sam Hart will have taken part in the FA Cup.
The defender admits he is excited to take part in the game and the competition, as he continues to enjoy life at Vale Park.
“I can’t wait it’ll be great for me, I’ve grown up watching it on the tele and hopefully we can go on and cause an upset in the cup.
“It’s pressure we need, we’re a big club so we’re expected to win games so we have to take that into Saturday.
“I’m loving my time here and as long as I’m playing it doesn’t really matter what position I play, I just need to keep working hard.”
