Port Vale will be looking to improve upon their recent form as they come off the back of a home draw against Oldham.
Vale visit Greenhous Meadow on Saturday looking for a win to propel them up the table and keep in touching distance of the top six.
Manager Bruno Ribeiro spoke exclusively to Valiant PlayerHD after his team’s draw with Oldham on Tuesday night about the trip to Shrewsbury: “We lost two points today, and we need to win on Saturday. We will go to Shrewsbury looking for a win. The players are fantastic in training and we need to apply that on the field.”
Vale went behind early on in the second half, and thanks to Remie Streete and Rigino Cicilia were seconds away from turning the defeat into a win, before Carl Winchester struck to level the score.
Cicilia is a player who has grown in popularity at Vale Park and Ribeiro knew what sort of player he bought in the summer: “I’ve always said he is a good player. He works very hard, but new players need time to adjust to English football.
“He is an important player for us, when he came on today the supporters were happy to see him now, when before they were not, but this is football. Everyone needs time, and he is a good player for the club,” he continued.
Another player who is getting more minutes under his belt for the Valiants and beginning to impress is Quentin Pereira, another player Ribeiro outlines the importance of: “He is a quality player, and he, like Cicilia is important for us. Again, he needs his time to settle in and he is important for the future of this club.”
Vale will be looking for three points as they make the trip to Shrewsbury tomorrow afternoon, and will come up against a few familiar faces.
