Neal On Need To Maintain Good Form

Port Vale goalkeeper Chris Neal knows he has to stake his claim to stay in the team as fellow shot stopper Jak Alnwick gets nearer to full fitness.

The 30-year-old made his first start of the season for the Valiants last month after former Newcastle United keeper Alnwick suffered an abdominal injury.

During the Geordie’s absence, Neal has performed well between the sticks but is aware he must maintain that good form if he wishes to keep his place in the line up.

Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD ahead of this weekend’s game against Colchester, he said: “I think I’ve done pretty well since I’ve come in considering I’ve not played with the lads this season.

“So I’ve got to try and give the manager no excuses to drop me and leave me out of the team.”
