Bruno Ribeiro Appointed As Port Vale Manager

Port Vale Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Bruno Ribeiro as First Team Manager.

The 40-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Vale Park and arrives at the Club following a high-profile playing and coaching career thus far.

He enjoyed a four-year spell in England as a player, gaining Premier League and EFL experience with Leeds United and Sheffield United respectively.

Ribeiro has spent most of his 22 years in football at Primeria Liga side Vitoria Setubal, where he had two stints as a player and two as manager.

He has also coached in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds as manager of Bulgarian outfit PFC Ludogorets Razgrad.

Michael Brown will be Ribeiro's Assistant Manager while former Vale midfielder Peter Farrell is the new First Team Coach.

Following an extensive search and interview process, Chairman Norman Smurthwaite is delighted with the appointment of the Portuguese.

He told port-vale.co.uk: “I’m very pleased to be able to appoint Bruno as the Club’s new manager.

“It has been a long, extensive process but I’m absolutely certain we have the right man for the job.”

Ribeiro is extremely pleased to have been named as the Club’s new boss and is already looking forward to putting his plans in place.

Bruno added: “I’m very happy, my ambition was to come to England and now to come to Port Vale.

“It’s a big Club with good conditions. I believe this is a Championship club and I am very happy here and I will do my best.”
