Defender Ryan Inniss says Port Vale need to apply themselves better in the future than they did against Wigan Athletic.
The centre back came on as a substitute at the DW Stadium after Ryan McGivern was sent off in the first half.
Speaking to the press after the game, Inniss felt the Valiants need to learn from their performance in Lancashire.
“We know on our day we can beat any team and I truly believe that,” he commented.
“We need to apply ourselves a lot better than we did today and we know that and cut out the individual errors.
“I felt it was an unlucky sending off for Ryan [McGivern] and obviously my role in the third goal I was a bit disappointed with.
“On another day you can turn up here and give a lot more than we did so we’re looking forward to Tuesday.”
The game was just Inniss’ second taste of first team action since returning from injury but the Crystal Palace loanee said he got through it unscathed.
“I feel good, the shoulder feels great and my legs feel good but sometimes it’s tough adapting when you come on,” he said.
“But I gave myself the best chance with the preparation I had so I’m disappointed really.
“I could have done better with the third goal so we’re looking forward to Tuesday.”
He added: “It’s great being in and around it the last couple of weeks. I came on for a minute or so in the last game so I got a little taste for it.
“But I’m here for the team so I don’t mind sitting on the bench if the boys keep winning, that’s fine by me.
“Whatever the gaffer goes with on Tuesday we’re all raring to go.”
