Brown & Moore Named In Football League’s Team Of the Week

Port Vale duo Michael Brown and Byron Moore have been named in the Football League’s Team of the Week.

Both played the full 90 minutes at Bloomfield Road as the Valiants beat Blackpool 1-0 thanks to Ajay Leitch-Smith’s second half decider.

Moore provided the assist for that goal while the game was just Brown’s third start of the season.

That didn’t stop the veteran having a massive impact on the game though, as he pulled the strings from midfield and provided an effective shield in front of the defence.

Explaining the decision to include the Port Vale pair in the Team of the Week the Football League commented:

“Port Vale were involved in a hard-fought battle away at Blackpool, and successfully returned from Bloomfield Road with the points.

"The experienced Brown was fantastic in between the midfield and defence, preventing the Seasiders from gaining a foothold in the match.

"Moore was another who impressed in the Valiants' victory, and it was his attacking play that teed up the winning goal.

"The winger's cross from the right caused havoc and the ball was eventually bundled home by Ajay Leitch-Smith to seal the 1-0 win.”
