Port Vale manager Rob Page was pleased with his side’s ‘ugly win’ over Swindon Town.
Club captain Carl Dickinson nodded home the winner in the first half to earn the Valiants three points.
Page admitted it was far from their best performance of the season but praised his players for their dogged defensive display.
Speaking to Valiant PlayerHD after the match he said: “I’d say it was an ugly win and I think at times it’s not a bad thing every now and again.
“We were off the back of a disappointing performance and result against Wigan. It was a big ask of the lads for 55 minutes to play with ten men against an excellent Wigan outfit.
“So they run themselves into the ground on Saturday and four days later we’re asking them to put another shift in.
“It wasn’t technically excellent tonight there were things that we need to work on and things we could have done better.
“But to win ugly against a good Swindon outfit, we’ll take that every day of the week.”
