Alex Jones Talks Northampton Town

Port Vale head into the Christmas period of Sky Bet League One fixtures this weekend as they face off against Northampton Town on Saturday.

The side have got four games before the new year, with three of them being at home, and they are hoping to string a few wins together so they can achieve a play-off spot.

Valiants striker, Alex Jones thinks that the next three games are pivotal to Vale’s season and thinks they could come out of it stronger.

He spoke exclusively to Valiant Player HD yesterday: “The next three games are huge, obviously, with them being at home." said the on-loan striker.

“Everyone has seen that the league is so tight and if you lose two games, you are close to the bottom but if you win two games, you’re in the top six.

With Vale’s home record being as good as it is, Jones thinks this will help them in the coming weeks: “It only helps with us doing so well at home. Having three out of the four games at home is only a bonus but it’s only going to be a bonus if we put in performances and get the three points.”

Jones is happy to have met his original target of ten goals but he has already set himself a new target for the remaining games this year. “I was really pleased to get that tenth goal,” he said.

“Especially as my target before I got here was to try and get as close or get 10 goals. I was really pleased and I hope to get a few more. Obviously, I’ve got to that target now so I’ve set myself a new one and hopefully I can get some more on Saturday and get closer to that target.”

And the attacker is enjoying playing with in-form Rigino Cicilia upfront as he believes the big man can help create some space. He said: “I think he’s done really well, he’s scoring goals and he is a presence up there, which helps me as I try to get space.

He continued: “It’s easier when he’s up there because he occupies another defender. I think me and him have worked well together over the last few weeks and I enjoy playing with him.”
