Take a look at the thoughts of the manager after two games this weekend.
This past weekend saw the end of the 2016/17 pre-season schedule as Vale signed off with a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
Manager, Bruno Ribeiro had fielded two different sides this weekend, as his side also faced a Manchester United Xl at Vale Park.
It was a tale of two stories, with Vale coming away victorious on the Saturday, but suffering defeat on the Sunday.
Despite the results, Bruno remained upbeat with his players’ performances and remains confident heading into the new season this weekend.
He said: “All players worked hard, a lot of young players played against a strong team against Sheffield Wednesday, the best we’ve played in pre-season, but the result is not important in the game.
“It was good for us, all players have played and I’m very confident for the start of the season and we’re still working hard every day to improve the team.
“Saturday we played very good, today not so good, but I understand with the young players, but we will keep working.
“We will start good next Saturday that’s what is important and I’m very confident that against Bradford we will pick up our first three points.”
